Sorcha Ni Dhubghaill

Dr. Ni Dhubghaill is currently Professor, Head of Department and Corneal and Cataract Specialist at VUB/UZ Brussels. She obtained both her medical degree and PhD from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. As an undergraduate, she won the Wellch Allyn prize for ophthalmology as well as the prestigious Duke Elder Undergraduate prize award by the Royal College of Ophthalmology in the UK. Since moving to Belgium, she came third in the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) exam and was the first woman to pass the ESCRS-EBO Subspecialist exam. Her main research focuses are translational anterior segment surgery and optics. She works with patients suffering from limbal stem cell deficiency, and has expertise in different techniques for ocular surface reconstruction. She has also run previous limbal stem cell clinical trials, which has provided her with expertise required to consult StemSight.
